Vine

I found this dry piece of grape vine on the ground at the park. It had tangled up a small piece of wood and I just thought it looked really cool. So I brought it home and took pictures of it.

Kestrel

Not fantastic pics, but I’ve never seen a kestrel in the wild before.

Or maybe I have, they’re kind of tiny. I actually thought this might be a baby red-tail hawk till I looked at the pictures at home.

Another one in the Couldn’t Decide Which I Like Better So I’m Posting Both series.

Spider

I saw one of these spiders a few years ago – it made a web in my driveway that was several feet across and I almost walked into it.

They’re actually quite skittish and tend to run away from people. This is a feature I appreciate in spiders.

Anyway, I found this one right by the front door. I was hoping to get a ring-flash to get REALLY good photos, but it’s not going to get here till Monday and it’s going to rain until then and the spider might be gone, so here’s what I’ve got so far.

Spider Glamour Shot!

Common Grackle

I had a flock of about a hundred of these marauding around the yard a few weeks back. They came back this weekend and I managed to get a nice shot of one of them.

Flower Bug

Well this is a new one

I just went to let the dog out before bed, and found this guy on the screen door.

I was wondering how he got there and then he did this:

Which makes him evidently a tree frog.

I let him climb on my hand and put him outside.

I just realised it’s after midnight so I can use him for POTD if I can find him again!

Mini Snapper

I found a tiny baby snapping turtle today. Ok, the dog found it, but hey.

Just to show how small it was, here it is in my hand.

I’m at a loss for words on this one

Seriously… I mean… uh… what?

Sun and Clouds

One thing I always like is when trees or whatever are lit by sunlight, but have really heavy dark clouds in the background.

I also wish I had the dSLR for this shot, but hey.

Fact

There comes a time when every avid outdoors photographer has to ask themselves the question “Is something crawling up my leg?”
