Green Tree Frog

Found this guy while walking the dog today.

I didn’t have the good camera and the crappy camera was having trouble telling all the greens apart, so I had him climb my hand. As you can tell, he was really really thrilled.

He didn’t like this one because it makes him look fat.

Ah, small towns. This was taken in Center City, Minnesota.

I thought it was a bit odd, but then I noticed that this guy was right next door.

Random Park

Yup, just what it says on the tin.

I know I already have a pretty nice picture of this one flower here, but hey, I like it.

So here’s a few more I got today.

In honour of World Turtle Day, and because I luckily stumbled on him while walking the dog, here is a photo of a painted turtle:

I know that doesn’t look very painted, but this is what they look like from the bottom:

There are tons of these guys at the park we walk at, but they’re usually out on logs in the middle of the lake and they tend to run away as soon as they see the camera. Seriously.

Gigi’s Birthday

I had a different photo planned for Gigi’s 9th birthday, but sadly we had no sun that day. So I snapped this on my phone.

I tried taking the original Gigi’s Birthday photo today but somehow managed to shoot a ton of out of focus pictures. Mrrrrrrrrr. I’m blaming the insane wind.

We had a crazy amount of snow this past winter (yes, past winter. I insist!). This is after several years of hardly any rain or snow. Enough that all the lakes got really low and kind of disgusting.

The lake where I walk the dog has a water level meter thinggie. This is a photo of it from 2009, but it was at about the same level before winter started this year.

And here’s a picture of it from today.

Can’t see it? Here’s a little zoom-in:

Yeah, you still can’t really see it. It is completely submerged.

Makes me hope that kayaking this year won’t involve wading knee-deep in mud!

While taking the swan pics I posted earlier (as in, 30 seconds ago) I got this nice shot of lens flare a red-winged blackbird, which is one of my favourite birds.

Swan Song

I’ve been seeing these swans around here for a while now. Never when I have the camera, naturally. One time I rushed home and got the camera but by the time I got back, they were gone. Apparently they can fly away or something. I was starting to think that maybe I was imagining them.

Today, K spotted them really near home on her way back from work. I was out walking the dog, so she called and told me where they were, and offered to grab my camera and meet me there. Because she’s just that cool.

So I finally have proof that they’re real! Well worth wading knee-deep in a pond and getting my shoes wet for the foreseeable future.
